"O taste and see that the Lord is good!" (Psalm 34:8)
The Lord our God beckons us to taste of Him; to eat and drink, not with Him, but of Him. It's not just knowing about Him or seeing Him from afar. He invites us to spiritually eat and drink of Him. Deep in our beings, in our inner man where He resides, He has a table spread at all times where we may stop and be refreshed and revitalized by feasting on Him.
The poetry and word pictures of the Psalms have a way of bypassing our busy minds, more easily feeding our inner man. The words of the Psalms constantly encourage us to trust in Him, find our refuge in Him, call on His name, eat and drink of Him, and find in Him the love, joy, and peace our inner beings crave and desire.
